Circles and Lines 2009 – 2011

This series aims to communicate the feelings and emotions experienced through Bi-Polar Disorder. The series started with a poem written by a person who had experienced severe episodes of depression and mania after a period of illness. This poem was deconstructed into composition ideas all based on circles and lines. These composition ideas were translated into 228 mono prints which were then turned into a short animation. Six of the mono prints are now framed.

Well of Emotion 2006

Consciousness blurs into the subconscious during episodes of psychosis. This body of work set about warping images of mouths, eyes and ears by painting over them and extending lines and shapes into new forms. During phychosis, speech, hearing and sight can be affected by the intensity of emotion and feeling. This can often interfere with the person’s ability to function. Through distorting images of mouths, eyes and ears, the effects and experiences of psychosis are explored.
